The Rundown

I am a college student working towards a degree in Mass Communications.  My interest has lately taken me more into the world of Public Relations and I think that is where I'll be staying.
When I was younger, I wanted to be a teacher because I liked helping people and showing them ways to do things or solve problems that actually work.  Then as I got older, I thought for sure I wanted to study to be a lawyer because I enjoyed helping people get their point across.  I was attracted to the idea of being someone's catalyst in getting their side of the story out -- helping them get noticed, get them on the map.  I found, though, that I wasn't too fond of the fact that I'd probably be eating, breathing and drinking American law everyday for the rest of my life so I slowly stepped away from the idea.  My next choice became International Studies and Affairs.  My family background and heritage had my mind on things outside the States from young.  I knew I would enjoy the constant meet and greet with new folks from all walks of life as well as the possibility of travel.
Since then, I've realized that all of these interests play a part in why I chose to study Mass Communications and, in particular, PR.  I look forward to the things I'll be learning about the field and about life in general as time goes by with my studies.  I would love an opporunity to get my foot in the door with a part time job or internship before I graduate. I'm keeping my eyes and ears open.  Wish me luck!
